“Sir Gawain and the Green Knight”- An Arthurian poem in which the Green Knight comes to the castle of King Arthur in search of a victim to play a Christmas game with. Sir Gawain sacrifices himself so that the king would not be harmed. Gawain was to strike the Green Knight and a year and a day later the Green Knight would strike a return blow. The Green Knight only breaks the skin of Gawain because he showed his bravery by sacrificing himself for the king, traveling to the Green Knight’s castle, enduring the hardships and being a good man

Excalibur was the famous sword of King Arthur that was forged on Avalon. This sword was capable of cutting through anything and the sheath made the user invincible.
The Sword in the Stone is not to be mistaken for Excalibur. Excalibur was forged on Avalon. Arthur was going to give the sword to Kay for a tournament. Nobles scene Arthur draw the sword from the rock and decided to crown him on Pentecost.
The Holy Grail was the vessel used by Christ at the last supper. The grail granted fresh food and drink every morning. It was passed down until St. Joseph settled onto Glastonbury. The Holy Grail was always guarded in a castle by grail kings.

Merlin knows Uther Pendragon desires Igraine, and he also knows their child will become a great king. Merlin disguises Uther as Igraine’s husband so he can visit her.
Igraine thinks Uther is actually her husband, until she learns that he died fighting the Pendragon’s men at the same time a man came to visit her.
Uther and Igraine marry and Arthur is born at Midwinter.
The Love Triangle
Guenevere and and Arthur are married.
Lancelot was one of Arthur’s legendary knights, Guenevere’s lover, and savoir on a few occasions. Their long relationship together ultimately dooms Arhtur’s great realm.
Morgan le Fay is known as the Arthurian Sorceress. In some stories she is the defender of good.
Nimue alias Vivienne or Lady of the Lake was the mysterious female who gave Arthur his sword.
She is also the foster-mother of Lancelot.
Mordred is the nephew of Arthur, who steals the crown from Arthur. Arthur later kills him in battle.
